Washington School Update

Opposition to the redevelopment is getting more organized and growing. In the last few weeks, I've posted some dialogue occurring around the redevelopment of the Washington Street School. If you are interested in this project, there's a series of events beginning tonight that you might consider attending (see below). Also, a website has been established to clarify and communicate the opposition group's intentions.

From the website:
Our Association is dedicated to strengthening community bonds within our Boulder, Colorado neighborhood, enhancing our sense of identity and supporting our shared concerns. We are rallying to protect our most treasured asset - Washington Elementary School - which the School District wants to sell for development. We are not opposed to sensitive infill development, but the current proposal is defiantly insensitive and would obliterate all benefits we and the extended community derive from the site. Please explore our website, find out what we are thinking, and support us at the September 13, 2007 Planning Board meeting and the Sept. 18 and Oct. 2 City Council meetings. We wear RED to STOP the destruction of Boulder's neighborhoods.

You can also learn more from the developer's point of view by attending a meeting at 6pm this evening (September 11th) hosted by Wonderland Hills at the school (1215 Cedar Avenue, Boulder). If you miss it, there's another one on the 27th.
